Indications
Dose
Name Starting Dose Frequency Route Levetiracetam (Epilepsy) 250 mg OD for 1-2 weeks then 250 mg BD. Increasing dose every 2-4 weeks up to 1.5 g BD BD PO Levetiracetam (Status Epilepticus Loading) Consider IV infusion of 50mg/kg over 15 minutes (max. 4500mg). [There is a wide variation in dosing from 40-60 mg/kg)
IV Infusion IV Levetiracetam (Status Epilepticus Maintenance) For eGFR 50mls-80mls/min - give 1000mg BD.
For eGFR 30mls-50mls/min - give 750mg BD.
For eGFR <30mls/min - give 500mg BD.
For dialysis patients - give 500mg OD
