The CEA blood test is not reliable for diagnosing cancer or as a screening test for early detection of cancer. It is most commonly associated with colorectal cancer, where its levels can be used to monitor treatment response and detect recurrences. Elevated CEA levels can also be seen in other malignancies, including breast, lung, pancreatic, gastric, and ovarian cancers. CEA is not recommended as a primary screening tool for cancer due to its lack of specificity and sensitivity.
