Mode of action
- Alpha - 1 blocker
Indications
- Hypertension - usually a second line agent
- Benign prostatic hypertrophy/hyperplasia
- Raynaud's phenomenon
- Heart failure
Dose
- Hypertension : Prazosin 500 mcg bd or tds for 7 days
- Hypertension: Prazosin 1 mg bd or tds. Max dose Prazosin 20 mg per day
- Heart failure : Prazosin 500 mcg bd or TDS. Caution with daily dose over 4 mg

Cautions
- First dose hypotension
- Cataract surgery - floppy iris syndrome
Contraindications
- Hypotension
- Relative C/I in pregnancy
- Relative C/I with lactation
Side effects
- Breathlessness, cough, fatigue
- Anxiety, Sweating, arthralgia
