Aetiology
- Prepatellar: front of knee friction between patellar tendon and skin. Seen with carpenters and those who work on their knees
- Infrapatellar: inflammation between patella and tendon. Those who work on knees in a more vertical position
Clinical
- Prepatellar: swelling in front of the knees
- Postpatellar: swelling may be seen
Management
- Both require firm bandaging and swelling
- Advise use protective pads when on knees.
- Bursa may need aspiration
