Aetiology
- May be due to repeated damage to the penis
- Pain and shortening and curvature of penis
- There is fibrosis and plaque formation
Clinical
- Patients are usually over 40
- Curvature with erections which may be painful and make sex difficult or impossible
- Associated erectile dysfunction.
- Pain may settle with time and things improve
Management
- Surgery is often needed if the degree of curvature makes it uncomfortable, difficult or impossible to have sex
- No treatment for Peyronie’s disease can reverse the changes
- There are various injectable treatments may be considered
